Lockyer District State High School Learning Bulding, South-West Queensland

Laing O'Rourke undertook the design and construct of an eight-space specialist learning, staff and amenities building at the Lockyer State High School.

FEATURES:

The building provides much-needed facilities for the school, including science, music and art rooms.

Due to drought conditions, the project team implemented dust reduction initiatives to restrict the amount of dust from the site spreading to the rest of the school. They placed shade cloths around the construction site fences for dust control.

BENEFITS:

The specialist learning, staff and amenities building provides staff and students with room for science, music and art.

The entire Laing O'Rourke site management team applied for their Working With Children Blue Card, further demonstrating the company's committment to ensuring a safe working environment for all.

The project team worked under tight time constraints to complete the building by December 2007, in preparation for the start of the 2008 school year.
