Gatton School of Veterinary Science, Gatton, Queensland

The $80 million contract involves the construction of four new buildings including a veterinary hospital, teaching and research facilities, a substation, and one refurbished building that will house teaching laboratories.

Key challenges for the team will be the management of multiple work fronts and achievement of the fixed completion date to enable the transfer of the existing School which is currently located at the University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus.

At completion the School will be united on one campus, boast state-of-the-art facilities, and benefit from integration with a number of other related university faculties already at UQ Gatton.

FEATURES:

The purpose-built facilities will provide world-class research and teaching accommodation for the School. Core features include:

  • Veterinary Science Building which will provide three large science research laboratories;
  • UQ Veterinary Hospital which will operate as a fully equipped equine clinic and large animal hospital;
  • John Mahon 2 Building which, once refurbished, will provide pre-clinical teaching laboratories; and
  • Veterinary Teaching and Research Facility which will support teaching and research into small animals
