Borders Bookstore, Brisbane
This project involved the redevelopment of the former Forum Cinema site, on the corner of Elizabeth and Albert Streets in Brisbane's CBD, to house a Borders bookstore.
FEATURES:
- demolition of existing cinema complex while retaining two neighbouring walls
- construction of 5 levels of concrete floors with external cladding to two sides
- installation of four escalators and two lifts
- perimeter wall consisting of aluminium framed window and curtain glass walling fitted between precast concrete panels and floor to floor structure, and
- use of Smart Panel system on external walls.
BENEFITS:
- access and deliveries programmed at night to minimise impacts to vehicular and pedestrian traffic, and
- good safety record during construction.
