Indo Kodeco Overland Belt Conveyor, Indonesia
The project involved the design and construction of the longest overland conveyor system in Indonesia, which carries material from a quarry to a new cement plant.
FEATURES:
- 24km conveyor system, over difficult terrain in five flights of up to 8.5km, with curved corrugated covering to shed monsoonal rain
- transports 2,500t of iron ore, limestone and limestone/clay per hour
- 50km of conveyor belt, 16,000 bored pier module foundations and 52,000 idler rollers.
BENEFITS:
The project team was able to deliver:
- a new control system, in consultation with CDI for scoop control fluid couplings that satisfied the client's requirements
- increased efficiency through the design of a more compact profile, combining low height tubular transoms and stringer/weather cover arrangement
- sound logistics management to ensure the project could be delivered in the remote location
- a workforce employed locally, peaking at around 250
- a robust, fully commissioned plant that has operated reliably since first commissioned.
CLIENT: Joint Venture - Indo Cement (Indonesia), Kodeco (Korea) and Marubeni Corp (Japan)
