Ash Handling & Disposal Plant, Tarong North Power Station, Queensland
This project involved constructing the ash handling and disposal plant for the 450MW extension to the Tarong Power Station, 180km north-west of Brisbane.
FEATURES:
- furnace ash disposal system consisting of submerged chain conveyor, crusher, truck loading system, and motive water system
- fly ash disposal system consisting of 5 chain conveyors, bucket elevator, fly ash silo and structure, truck loading station, slurry mixing and pumping system, and
- fly ash system disposes of 100t of ash per hour.
BENEFITS:
- excellent safety record, with no lost time injuries
- 40% of the workforce was sourced from the local community, and
- significant opportunities offered to local subcontractors and suppliers.
